Thomman Luke Asan Maragattil, a cultural icon of Kerala, India. Thomman Luke Asan was a performer and teacher of Marggam Kali, literally, the dance of the way that Thomas the Apostle brought to Kerala. Marggam Kali became a traditional dance form for Syrian Christians in the region. The maestro belonged to the Knanaya community that zealously guarded this dance tradition. Thomman Luke Asan was the best exponent of the art form and a custodian of a vast repertory of traditional Christian songs and dance vocabulary.
